Happy Mother's Day!

So it's not really Mother's Day for me this year, since I'm still a mother-to-be at this point (and hopefully for a few more weeks... I don't need any early arrivals!).

Jon told me earlier this week that he'd been racking his brain for the past few weeks trying to come up w/something to get me, but wasn't hitting on anything. And frankly, I couldn't think of anything either, aside from getting the nursery furniture put together. So that's what I told him :) The crib, bookshelf, and toybox (save the lid, which arrived w/a chunk broken off it...we're waiting on a new one to be shipped) are all together at this point. Just the changer/hutch are left!

I just kind of peer in the doorway sometimes... it's still really odd to me to have a pink room w/a crib in it :)

And why didn't someone tell me that I would be so freakin' EXHAUSTED during the 3rd trimester? It's light-years worse than the 1st 3 months. I fall asleep at the drop of a hat... and it's not just dozing. I'm OUT, sleeping hard. It's like this all the time, no matter how much sleep I get at night. *yaaaaaaaaaaaaawn*

I've been trying to stay off my feet more, when I can. I've been having weird tingliness in my thighs when I do a lot of walking (or lately, not even that much, really), which apparently is a result of the baby smooshing my sciatic nerve. It kind of feels like they're asleep when it happens... pins & needles-ish. Annoying more than anything, really.

I was doing the math last night, and unless she makes an early appearance, I have only 7.5 weeks of work left before I'll go out on leave! Holy cow... that's kind of snuck up on me :)

Humming along...

This week, Wednesday *is* actually HumpDay for me, since I'm working a human schedule.

I'm glad we didn't buy any candy (we're kind of Hallowe'en scrooges)... we haven't had a single trick-or-treater! I thought we'd probably have a few rings of the ol' doorbell, but it's going on 8:30, and nothing! I wouldn't expect anything at this point. We didn't even seen any little spooks walking around as we were driving to/from dinner. Maybe kids don't go out as much as they used to... more parties and church funtions and whatnot.

We're watching the Canes game, which during the first people was terribly uneventful. Here's hoping the 2nd period isn't so sluggish.

Halloween costumes!

I have never been much good at coming up with creative Halloween costumes. In spite of how much I love the holiday, coming up with good costume ideas is just not my forte. My kids will be doomed to years of boring, store-bought costumes. I just have some sort of mental block, I guess.

I always wanted to be a groovy hippie when I was little. That never came to fruition. I almost always wound up being some crazy-looking clown. One year in college, my friends and I dressed up as the four seasons (not the band...we were supposed to be representative of the actual four seasons. Great idea, but people just thought we were bridesmaids. Certainly, my costumes were never good enough to win (or even enter, really) a Halloween costume contest.

Here's a little haiku I wrote about the ever-popular hippie:

Oh groovy hippie
Trick or treating is more fun
With magic sugar

Heehee. Just kidding. Don't eat the magic sugar cubes.

Anyway, if you're looking for some Halloween inspiration, check out Star Costumes. They have a lot of rocking' costumes, and they won't break the bank. In fact, a lot of their stuff is on sale right now, so check them out if you need something for the Halloween party.

"Summer is over and done, over and done."

Bonus points for anyone who can tell me what book that quote is from.

Anyway, it's almost September. Where did the summer go? I'm not complaining though...I love fall. Cooler weather, bring it on. And Halloween -- the spookiest day of the year! I have hardly any good decorations though. I might be checking out the sale over at onlinediscountmart.com.
