Ella's 9-month stats

-Weight: 19 lb 8 oz (50th percentile)
-Height: 27 1/2" (50th percentile)
-Head size: 18 1/2" (97th percentile)

She wasn't so happy and cooperative about getting examined this time as she has been in the past. More typical baby than typical Ella, I suppose. She didn't have to get any shots this time, but she did have to have her finger pricked for a blood draw, and I guess that's just as bad.

She's got TWO teeth coming in now! Both of the bottom front teeth are on the move. She's been just great about it. If I hadn't actually seen and felt both the teeth myself, I'd never have known she was teething at all.

Still not crawling, but oh-so-close.

Ella's favorite hideout:

Under the coffee table.

ETA: I forgot to mention when I posted this initially - she's finally getting a tooth! We were beginning to think baby dentures might be in our future. But she's got a bottom one coming in -- woohoo! She hadn't been fussy at all, so we weren't expecting it.

This is how I know I'm old.

Jon and I had tickets to see Death Cab For Cutie in Davidson this past Thursday. We had decided awhile ago that we'd just stay the night down there and go to Ikea and the outlets the next day.

We left earlier than expected on Thursday, so we had a good deal of time to kill before the show. We decided to go ahead to the outlets then, and check into our hotel before driving up to Davidson.

We never made it past the hotel.

Sad, huh?

We talked about it, and decided that since we had an evening alone, we wanted to spend it together rather than jostling with a bunch of kids in a hot arena not being able to talk to each other.

So yeah, I'm old. Well, we both are.

On the upside, though, we got a lot of cute clothes for Ella for next winter and picked up some household stuff at Ikea (which was a MADHOUSE, even after being open for 2 months and going there on a weekday).

New obsession: Etsy

I've ordered a couple of things from Etsy in the past, but I've just recently started browsing through their kids' stuff.

Oh dear. There is so much cute stuff, it should be a crime.

Check out these lovely jingle balls, this awesome hockey shirt, and this *precious* retro swimsuit!

So much adorable, *handmade* stuff!

Save your certificates, kids.

Jon was going through some old stuff earlier today, and ran across some sterling silver Christmas ornaments from the early '70s that looked like they could be work something.

I looked them up on the Replacements website to see if they were even listed, and when I found them, I about fell out of my chair. They were selling for a LOT -- and we had 4 of them, 1970-1973.

Replacements doesn't list their buying prices on their website, so I gave them a call to have a quote emailed. Turns out they have a "boxed" price and a "non-boxed" price. All of the ornaments are in their original boxes and in the little felt bags to keep them from tarnishing. But they were missing their certificates, and because of that, they didn't qualify as "boxed".

For the oldest ornament, this meant a difference in price of almost $200. For ONE ORNAMENT. All because it was missing a piece of paper.

So, moral of the story -- keep your certificates. Please. Keep them.
