Help make more memories

A little over 6 years ago, my grandpa on my mom's side died. He had fairly advanced Alzheimer's when he passed away, and had not been really aware of anyone or anything for a while before he died. It was pretty sad seeing the progression of the disease, and how he would remember less and less each time we went down to Georgia to visit.

The Alzheimer's Association holds Memory Walks annually to help raise money for reasearch. You can visit their site to search out walks in your area or even volunteer to be a Team Captain and organize a group of your friends and family to walk for this great cause. Even if you don't want to be a captain, you can be a Team Walker or an Independent Walker as well.

All the walks in my area took place earlier this spring and summer, but if they hadn't already gone by, I'd certainly give some thought to walking or being a team captain. The more reasearch that can be done on this sad illness, the less families that will have to see a loved one fade away like my grandpa did.

Check them out if you'd like to get involved with a very important cause.
